Dear Parents,

I hope you and your family are all keeping well.

As you are now all  aware, schools in Ontario will remain closed until May 4th.  The Ministry has provided further expectations for our school board with regard to continued learning at home.  I understand and appreciate the general anxiety shared by parents, guardians, teachers and students as we continue on this unprecedented journey.  My daughters are in Grade 6 and 5, so I share your concerns regarding academics, as well as all that school life has to offer.

Our community is diverse and the continuity of learning requires a range of delivery options that are reasonable and practical.  These learning opportunities will look different from school to school and from teacher to teacher across the city, and may in fact look different within a classroom. I appreciate your support and understanding as our teachers navigate online learning. I can assure you that our staff are doing their very best. We will be collaborating, sharing ideas, and creating a plan to help with your child's education.

Staff will be connecting with you soon regarding the expectations for the coming weeks with regards to the following guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education.

Learning Expectation Guidelines

K-Grade 3:           5 hours of work per student with a focus on Literacy and Math

Grades 4-6:         5 hours of work per student per week with a focus on Literacy, Math                                                                               Science and Social Studies.

I will be providing a weekly update over the coming weeks but please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher with any concerns.

Take good care of yourself and your loved ones.
